Jewellery
Your piercing will be carried out using suitable initial jewellery chosen with safety, placement and healing in mind.
Initial jewellery may need to allow extra space for swelling and can often be downsized once the piercing has settled.
Please do not bring jewellery purchased elsewhere to be used for a fresh piercing unless this has been discussed and approved beforehand.
Not all jewellery is suitable for initial piercings.
Age Requirements and Identification
Body piercings are available from age 12 with a parent or legal guardian present throughout the appointment.
Both the client and parent or guardian must bring valid photographic identification. The parent or guardian must complete and sign the required consent form.
Genital piercings are strictly for clients aged 18 and over.
Valid photographic identification must be brought to the appointment.
If suitable ID is not provided, the piercing cannot go ahead and the booking fee may be lost.
Piercing Consultations
Some placements depend on your individual anatomy and may not be suitable for everyone.
I will assess the area before piercing and explain honestly whether the placement is safe and likely to heal well.
I reserve the right to refuse a piercing if your anatomy is unsuitable or I believe it would be unsafe.
Alternative placements may be suggested where possible.
What to Expect
Before the piercing, we’ll discuss the placement, jewellery and healing process.
The area will be cleaned and marked so you can check the position before the piercing is carried out.
I’ll explain what is happening throughout the appointment and provide full aftercare instructions before you leave.
You are welcome to ask questions or request a short pause at any point.
Piercing Aftercare
Healing times vary depending on the piercing, placement, jewellery, lifestyle and aftercare.
You’ll receive clear aftercare instructions at your appointment.
Please avoid touching, twisting or removing the jewellery unnecessarily during healing.
Do not change the jewellery too early, even if the piercing appears healed on the outside. The internal tissue can take much longer to heal.
Contact me if you are concerned about your piercing rather than immediately removing the jewellery yourself.

Downsizing Jewellery
Some piercings are initially fitted with longer jewellery to allow for swelling.
Once the swelling has reduced, a shorter piece may be needed to prevent irritation, movement or snagging.
The correct time for downsizing varies depending on the piercing and how it is healing.
Please contact me for advice rather than changing the jewellery too early.
Piercing Problems and Troubleshooting
Irritation does not always mean infection.
Swelling, redness, tenderness, crusting and irritation bumps can happen during healing for several reasons, including pressure, movement, sleeping on the piercing, snagging, unsuitable aftercare or jewellery that needs downsizing.
Please contact me with a clear photograph if you are worried. I can advise whether the piercing needs checking in person or whether medical advice may be required.
